I’m here for the Party, the #wedding #party that is…. HOT TRENDS

2010 is a year where tradition seems to be thrown to the wind – designers are trying new, quirky ways to give your wedding extra SASS this season. So if your wedding is going to be extra spicy we’re hoping to give you some tips about what flowers may emphasize the stunning clothing and colours that are going to be hot, hot, hot. Here are five hot ones!

To Boldly Go where No Bride has gone before Black wedding dress

In 2010 wedding colours are bright and bold, deep and rich! Vibrant red, bold turquoise, and bright greens are the colours that stand out in the new year, as well as deep browns and plum.  Plus, for the fashion-forward bride, black wedding gowns are growing in popularity. This colour scheme was popular on the Paris fashion runways in 2008, and has remained a hot trend in wedding dresses ever since – each year increasing in popularity. Black dresses tend to be embellished with lace and pearls. Black seem too dynamic for you? White dresses with black piping or embroidery are also popular.

Nonmatching Bridesmaids

If the thought of dressing up your wedding party in matching head-to-toe getups makes you cringe, skip it. There are a couple of easy ways to go about it. Try picking two coordinating patterns or a fun pattern and color combo; then dress every other girl in one of the two. Another approach is to dress your maid of honor in a patterned gown and have each bridesmaid wear another one of your wedding colors. If you’d like to stick to one main color and fabric, just leave the rest up to the girls. They’ll, of course, be happy to pick their own dress. It can also be a fun idea to let them pick their own shoes and accessories, keeping with your wedding colors.

Including Your Pets

Dog ringbearer in wedding

Now THAT is a ringbearer!!!!

Let’s face it: To those who own them, pets are like family. This means there’s no way they’re staying behind on the big day. More couples are finding unique ways to include their cherished pets in their wedding ceremonies by subbing them into usual wedding party roles. (Think ring bearers, flower girls, or even escorts.) And we’re not just talking about man’s best friend either. Cats, fish, and birds are popping up at weddings too — often even dressed for the occasion. You’ll find cats posing for photos that appear on invitations, save-the-dates, and escort cards, and birds in antique cages on display to greet guests. For a fun way to include your canine companion, consider making him or her the pooch of honor or the best dog. If you have more than one, have them walk your parents or special members of the wedding party down the aisle.

Non-Linear Aisles and Innovative Ceremony Setups

This year, it’s really all about comfort, so whether your ceremony takes place in a church, at a farm, or in a ballroom, consider adding elements that make your guests feel right at home. Skip the common aisle-down-the-middle arrangement and create a living-room vibe using a mix of couches and chairs, replace all those chairs with hay bales covered with quilts, or even spread blankets on the ground right in front of the altar for the kids. The best part is that anything goes just so long as the details create an intimate feeling.  I cant wait to do this REALLY soon :-)

Themed Engagement Photo Shoots

After you have found the right photographer to take your engagement photos, you can then move on to the part that stumps most couples — how to make the photos really fun, creative and memorable. This can be done several ways, but before making any decisions you should decide, as a couple, how you want the final overall look and feel of the photos to end up after everything is said and done. This is going to be different for every couple, but it’s definitely a decision that you need to make before you can begin to think about anything else. Also, you don’t need to have one set theme for all of the photos, but you need to have a plan for what each of the themes are going to be.

#Wedding #Cake Bling you can EAT!!!

Edible Wedding Cake Bling

Edible Wedding Cake Bling

If you don’t know by now, I am a HUGE wedding cake junkie!!!  It MUST taste good (so good that you can smell it from across the room!) and it MUST be gorgeous!  So, when I came across this absolutely wonderful site that had exactly what I was looking for…the edible diamond cake jewels for the cake I just had to share it.

There are colors to match any theme and the shapes are exactly what you want to embellish your FONDANT cake!

Made by a talented sugar artist, these beautiful edible assorted gems are made with Isomalt and can be used on cakes, cupcakes, pastries, cookies, etc. Caution: Fragile. Handle with extra care. Do not refrigerate/freeze. Store in a cool, dry place. Place jewel on your dessert just before serving. Because this is a sugar product, it will absorb moisture and cloud, so they display best on dry surfaces (fondant, royal icing).

PLUS: Who doesnt love a sale!!! 25% off till July 11th :-)

NOTE: This product is made from a sugar substitute, Isomalt. The jewels are shipped with a thin coat of vegetable oil to protect the shine and prevent sticking. Sometimes the jewels will be cloudy due to temperature fluctuations during shipping. If this occurs with your purchase, simply spray them with a very light coating of vegetable oil to instantly restore their luster.
